Whitefish Architect
Over 20 Years of Architectural Insight
Kimberly Marland graduated from Virginia Tech in 1993, earned initial licensure in Utah in 1996, and is currently licensed in Montana and North Carolina. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2008. Since starting Marland Architecture in 2002, she has worked on over 300 projects including new houses, additions and renovations.
After 25 years in Boone, NC, she relocated to Whitefish to explore new adventures in skiing, mountain biking, paddling, and hiking—activities that inspire her architectural designs.

Her passion for architecture began in high school, and what continues to excite her is the challenge of creating unique solutions that reflect each client's vision and needs. She specializes in integrating green building practices, energy efficiency, and right-sized design to create homes that are sustainable, intentional, and customized to the homeowners' lifestyles. Green building focuses on sustainable sites, efficient use of water and energy, eco-conscious materials, and enhancing indoor environmental quality—all critical factors for reducing utility costs, improving durability, and fostering a healthy living environment. Right-sized design ensures that every space is purposeful, meeting both current needs and future needs of the homeowners.
I believe that the concepts of green building, energy efficiency and right-sized design can help people be intentional about the choices they make in the design of their new house that will help them enjoy it for many years.
Working with your builder
If you already have your builder selected, I would love to include them in the design process to help make the design and construction as smooth and stress-free as possible. By collaborating with your builder early on, we can have discussions about options for the site plan, square footage, materials, and budget.
See your vision, before you break ground
With advanced 3D CAD modeling as part of every project, you'll be able to explore your home’s interior and exterior in detail before building begins. You can see how different styles, colors, and materials come together before construction starts. This is handy for submittal to HOA's that have architectural review requirements.
Let's begin, together
Whether you have a clear vision or need help imagining your new house, I can guide you through the design process to create your perfect home.
Let's do this!
